Jerome Van Roye
JEROME VAN ROYE is creating his drawings using a black felt pen, thick or thin depending on the emphasis he wants to give to the drawing. The shapes are hollowed out, filled with hatching or solid black. His first subject, the nude woman, is transformed by her gaze and lovingly reimagined in geometry and flat areas. The faces and bodies with unfolded volumes challenge us to follow their curves and reconstruct a probable figure. Freed by the large format, Jérôme remains tempted to endlessly revisit what is finished. His cut-out characters form the shadows of our complex identies, and are continually reworked compositions.
