Meet Alix
The Alliance Française of Hong Kong, in partnership with Dargaud Group Shanghai and Wallonie-Bruxelles International, presents a meeting with comic book author Alix Garin during her tour of the Alliance Françaises network in China.
Comics reach a wide audience and hold a unique place in Francophone culture. Their unique artistic richness allows them to blend literary value with multicultural connotations. As a comic book author, Alix Garin will explore with the audience the vibrant world of Belgian and French comics, along with an exclusive selection of Francophone comics.
"Don’t Forget Me" is Alix's first graphic novel, adapted from a true story—it's a deeply personal narrative about Alzheimer's disease: a young woman, Clémence, takes her grandmother on one last journey together. Touching and heartfelt, this album has received numerous awards and has been translated into many languages, including Chinese. Alix will unveil the context and creative process behind this iconic book, "Don’t Forget Me"; she will share her passion for comics and her fascinating career!
Author Biography
Alix Garin was born in 1997 in Belgium. At a young age, she discovered her calling for comics and, after obtaining her high school diploma, joined the École supérieure des Arts Saint Luc in Liège in the comic book section.
In 2017, she won the "Young Talent" award at the "Quai des Bulles" festival in Saint Malo.
In 2018, soon after graduating, she moved to Brussels, was hired by the Cartoonbase agency, and began writing "Don’t Forget Me," which achieved immediate success. She regularly publishes in various magazines such as "Spirou" and "La Revue Dessinée" and works as an illustrator for books aimed at teenagers.
In September 2024, her latest publication "Impenetrable" received strong critical acclaim in both Belgium and France. She currently lives and works in Brussels.
